Terms of Use

Last updated: [add date]

These Terms of Use govern your use of the website https://www.someone2talkto.co.uk (the “Website”).

The Website is operated by Someone2TalkTo (“Someone2TalkTo”, “we”, “us”, “our”).

By accessing or using this Website, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, you must not use the Website.

These Terms of Use should be read together with our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy.

1. About this Website

Someone2TalkTo is a UK-based platform that provides:

  • general information and reflective content on emotional wellbeing, burnout, ADHD and neurodiversity, menopause, grief and related topics
  • a directory of independent practitioners (for example counsellors, coaches, mindfulness practitioners and other wellbeing professionals)
  • information about workshops, events and support options for individuals and organisations

The Website is not a crisis service and does not provide medical or psychiatric care or a therapeutic service in its own right. Any one-to-one work you arrange with a practitioner listed in the directory is a separate relationship between you and that practitioner.

2. Not a crisis or emergency service

The Website and its content are not suitable for emergencies or crisis situations.

If you are:

  • in immediate danger
  • thinking about harming yourself or someone else
  • unable to keep yourself safe

please stop using this Website and seek urgent help by contacting:

  • Emergency services: 999
  • NHS 111 (or NHS 24 / NHS Direct, depending on where you live)
  • Samaritans (UK & ROI): 116 123 – available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week

You can also attend your nearest A&E department in an emergency.

3. Information only – no professional advice

The content on this Website – including articles, blog posts, directories, guides, resources, and any other materials – is provided for general information and reflection only. It is not:

  • medical advice
  • mental health or psychological advice
  • a diagnosis, treatment plan or substitute for professional care

You should always seek the advice of your GP, another qualified health professional, or a suitably qualified mental health practitioner with any questions you may have regarding a medical or mental health condition.

Never delay seeking professional help or disregard professional advice because of something you have read on this Website.

4. No therapy, counselling or professional relationship with Someone2TalkTo

Using this Website does not create:

  • a therapist–client relationship
  • a counselling relationship
  • a coaching or mentoring relationship
  • or any other professional relationship between you and Someone2TalkTo

Any therapeutic, coaching or other professional services are provided directly by independent practitioners who may appear in the directory or be mentioned in our content. Those practitioners are not employees or agents of Someone2TalkTo, and we are not party to any contract you enter into with them.

5. Directory of independent practitioners

5.1 Nature of the directory

The directory is intended to help you find practitioners whose services may be of interest to you. It is a signposting and connection tool only.

We:

  • provide space on the Website for practitioners to present information about their services
  • may curate which practitioners are listed and how they appear
  • may allow practitioners to pay for a listing or upgrade (for example, Premium listings)

We do not:

  • provide, supervise, or control the services offered by practitioners
  • employ or manage the practitioners
  • guarantee that any listed practitioner is suitable for your needs
  • guarantee any particular outcome, result or improvement

Any engagement, contract or payment arrangement is strictly between you and the practitioner.

5.2 No endorsement or guarantee

Inclusion of a practitioner, organisation, event or resource on the Website does not constitute an endorsement or recommendation by Someone2TalkTo.

Although we may take reasonable steps to ensure that information is accurate and that practitioners meet certain criteria at the time of joining, we cannot continuously monitor every practitioner or guarantee that:

  • they remain appropriately qualified, registered or insured
  • they work in line with any particular professional code or framework
  • their services will meet your needs or expectations

You are responsible for carrying out your own checks and making your own decisions before working with any practitioner.

5.3 Practitioner responsibilities

Each practitioner is responsible for:

  • complying with all applicable professional and ethical codes (for example BACP, UKCP, HCPC or other bodies, where relevant)
  • maintaining appropriate registration, membership and insurance
  • setting their own fees, terms and cancellation policies
  • meeting their legal and regulatory obligations in relation to clients and business operations

Someone2TalkTo is not responsible for any act or omission of a practitioner and accepts no liability for any loss, damage or harm arising from your engagement with them.
